For le Bal 1999 at the Hotel de Crillon, 25 Debs arrived from 10 countries, as far as Russia and Japan to make their entrance in haute couture gowns. Le Bal saw the first debs from Spain and Portugal: Maraya Perinat de Oriol and Pureza Vasconcellos e Souza. British Debs were Princess Beatrice Von Preussen, wearing Vivienne Westwood, and model Olivia Inge, granddaughter of former Prime Minister William Gladstone, in Dior.
All proceeds went to the Pierre and Marie Curie University’s research into AIDS and cancer vaccines.
All Debs wore Mikimoto jewellery.
